With this wine, a new personality of Mexican Malbec was discovered - greater aromatic intensity, color and body. A New World Malbec with a distinct proposal.

Monte Xanic first planted Malbec in the Guadalupe Valley about 30 years ago. At the time, it was the only Malbec in the region and was used for blending. As part of Monte Xanic’s mission to introduce consumers to new expressions of Mexican wine, then-winemaker Dr. Hans Backhoff E. envisioned it as a single-varietal wine.

So silky and elegant was the result that the winemaking team decided to bottle it as a Limited Edition. International awards soon followed.

Today, this Malbec represents the Ojos Negros Valley terroir of Monte Xanic – a high-altitude Malbec producing a deeply colored, expressive wine of great intensity.

Appearance:

Deep, ruby, almost opaque.

Nose:

Pronounced aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, blueberry and blackberry, alongside violet and lavender. Oak contributes vanilla, cocoa, mocha and subtle leather note.

Palate:

Dry, full bodied with medium acidity and medium silky tannins. Concentrated dark fruit flavors balanced by oak spice and floral complexity. Alcohol is warming but well integrated.

Conclusion:

Outstanding quality. A structured yet elegant high-altitude Malbec with depth, balance and long ageing potential.
