Hans Backhoff, CEO, Monte Xanic

First produced in 1994, Gran Ricardo is the most prestigious wine in our portfolio. Created in honor of Ricardo Hojel, it has earned international recognition and is widely regarded as one of Mexico’s most distinguished fine wines. Renowned for its structure, complexity, and ageing potential, Gran Ricardo can evolve gracefully for 25 years or more.

Winemaking

Gran Ricardo is produced using artisanal methods. All grapes are hand-harvested and hand-selected, cluster by cluster and berry by berry. A five-day pre-fermentation cold maceration is followed by eight days of post-fermentation maceration, enhancing color, structure, and aromatic depth. The wine is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, carefully chosen to complement rather than dominate the fruit.

  • Grape Varieties:

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot y Malbec

  • Origin:

Valle de Guadalupe & Ojos Negros, Baja California, Mexico
