The valley is an active winemaking region in Baja California, originally founded by Franciscan missionaries as "the Mission of Our Lady Guadalupe of the North." It includes various communities, such as Ejido El Porvenir, Francisco Zarco and San Antonio de Las Minas. In the early twentieth century (1900/1910), President Porfirio Díaz granted a concession to some Russian families from the United States to settle in what is now the town of Francisco Zarco for 50 years. The land surface of the Guadalupe Valley is equivalent to two-thirds of Napa Valley, and the climate is very similar to Southeast France.
Guadalupe Valley is located 30 kilometers inland from the city of Ensenada on the Baja California peninsula.

Tours

In August 2014, Monte Xanic launched its new winery, opening up the doors to our wine production process. This project is the culmination of nearly three decades of work and experience at Monte Xanic. It aims to integrate the wine production process into the visitor's experience.
The new Monte Xanic house reflects the spirit of this Mexican winery. First, it is the home of the Monte Xanic family, who work daily in the field to give life to our wines, watch over the production process and create the blends, which, once they are bottled, will become part of unforgettable moments of enjoyment.
It is also a reflection of Monte Xanic's commitment to quality. Monte Xanic stands for the perfect combination between respect for the greatest winemaking traditions and cutting edge technology. This project is a step forward on Monte Xanic's path of innovation, which will offer our friends, customers and the Mexican industry a unique and genuine experience in the winemaking world. This vineyard is open for visitors to explore and enjoy.

FAQS

The wine-grape harvest is the most important time of year, when we celebrate the start of the harvest season which gives us the raw material we use for our wines.
Monte Xanic pioneered the night harvesting technique in Mexico, as white grapes are harvested after dark to keep in their freshness, prevent oxidation and avert early fermentation during their transportation from the vine to the winery.
Monte Xanic’s Wine-Grape Harvest festivals are renowned for the experience of culinary sophistication on offer, with exquisite pairings, tastings and social celebration. They are always held during the first weekend of August. Monte Xanic marks the beginning of the Wine-Grape Harvest with a Twilight Concert open to the general public, who are offered a concert like no other in the center of our main vineyard. Monte Xanic’s concerts are renowned for their sophisticated protocol, reflecting our interest in the promotion culture and its associations with music, the arts and wine.
Artists, the media, business leaders, politicians and friends gather in the panoramic setting of our vineyard to behold our famed “Twilight Concert” during the first Saturday evening in August.
The concert has featured well-known artists such as Ely Guerra, Horacio Franco and Raven (a British heavy metal band), with Croatian group 2 Cellos appearing in 2013 before heading off to join Elton John on tour. Last year’s event saw a performance by the internationally renowned Dallas String Quartet.
